The Bachelorette – Season 13 Breakdown
On Monday, May 22, season 13 of The Bachelorette will premiere in an historic fashion when Rachel Lindsay, a 31 year-old attorney from Dallas, Texas, will become the first African-American bachelorette (or bachelor) in the show’s run.
She was a fan favorite on Nick Viall’s season of the Bachelor, even receiving the first impression rose from Viall on the first night of filming; but Lindsay left the twenty-first season of The Bachelor broken-hearted as the second runner-up to runner-up Raven Gates and winner Vanessa Grimaldi. Though Rachel didn’t find true love on The Bachelor, she’s getting another chance with her very own season of The Bachelorette.
For those of you who have never seen or heard of it (are there any out there?), The Bachelorette is a show that pits 20 and 30 something aged men against each other in the race to win one woman’s heart. It is spun from The Bachelor, a show that has the same premise, but instead boasts a male lead and female contestants.
Several other shows have emerged in the wake of these two powerhouse programs, including Bachelor Pad, which no longer airs, and Bachelor in Paradise, which will air its fourth season on Tuesday, August 8th.
